Mar 7 - The film 'Woyzeck' by Werner Herzog at the Goethe Institut 3/5/2013 to start anniversary celebration of Georg Büchner. KulturNachrichten - Newsletter 8/2013 Georg Büchner (1813-1837). A revolutionary German playright and scientist. Georg Büchner (1813 -1837), whose 200th birthday is being celebrated this year on almost all German speaking stages in Europe, was a German revolutionary playright and scientist. His best known drama “Woyzeck” belongs to the most important European tragedies like “King Oedipus” by Sophocles or “King Lear” by Shakespeare. Büchner’s “Woyzeck” will be performed on the 14th of March at 8.30 pm in the Satyricon Theatre in Nicosia, on the 15th March at 8.30 pm in the Theatre Rialto in Limassol and on the 27th March in the Palia Electriki in Paphos, directed by Achim Wieland. We start our program about Büchner with the famous film “Woyzeck” (German with English subtitles) by Werner Herzog (1978) with renown actor Klaus Kinski on Thursday, 7th March at 7 pm in the Goethe-Institut hall and on Friday 8th March at 7 pm we will present a filmed version of the play “Woyzeck” directed by Robert Wilson at the Deutsches Theater Berlin from 2009 (German with English songs). Geburtstag dieses Jahr an allen deutschsprachigen Bühnen Europas gefeiert wird, war ein deutscher revolutionärer Dichter und Naturwissenschaftler. Sein bekanntestes Stück: „Woyzeck“, das den Glanzleistungen der europäischen Tragödien wie dem „König Ödipus“ des Sophokles oder Shakespeares „King Lear“ ebenbürtig ist, wird am 14.3. in Nikosia (um 20.30 Uhr im Satyricon Theater) , am 15.3. in Limassol (um 20.30 Uhr im Theatre Rialto) und am 27.3. in Pafos (20.30 Uhr im Palia Electriki) unter der Regie von Achim Wieland aufgeführt. Zum Auftakt unseres Büchner-Programms zeigen wir am kommenden Donnerstag, 7.3.2013 um 19 Uhr im Goethe-Institut den preisgekrönten Film „Woyzeck“ von Werner Herzog (1978) mit Klaus Kinski in der Hauptrolle (Deutsch mit englischen Untertiteln) und am Freitag, 8.3.2013 um 19 Uhr den Mitschnitt einer „Woyzeck“ Inszenierung des bekannten Regisseurs Robert Wilson am Deutschen Theater Berlin aus dem Jahre 2009 (Deutsch mit englischen Liedertexten). Der Eintritt zu beiden Filmveranstaltungen ist frei!
