Spring is the season of flowers and this year 2010, it has put in an extra shift after the heavy rains and we are very grateful for the lustrous and juicy green everywhere although so many damages were reported, damages on houses and roads which could have been avoided through better planning.

A lot of planning has been done by the organisers of the Ozankoy Flower Show, the third one, and people interested in participating can still do so by opening their website, read the rules and class conditions and then fill in the forms to participate.

I spoke to the Mains at their Five-Finger Restaurant, a very cozy place with checked table cloths, a lovely court yard; Libby said: “I want to bring people of the village together, invite others from outside to get to know our village and to introduce their creativity and imagination in any form. I want them to sit down and think about small projects for the Show and participate. Communication, that is what I want.”

There are several classes you can participate in and there are many prizes you can win; it is for children and adults!  I had a look: Return flights to Istanbul; tandem paraglide, an orchid walk for two with Maureen and Tony Hutchinson, a boat trip on the African Queen, based in Girne, a diving lesson. For kids there will be a month free membership at the Fit Kids Gymnastic Centre in Ozanköy.

Isn’t that great?  I’d love to go to Istanbul which is the Cultural Capital this year together with Essen in Germany.

The event is sponsored by Cyprus Today and Commercial Insurance and Brote Ltd.

So mark these days in your calendar with red.
