The 23rd Book Fair has started on Monday, August 23 and will end on September 3.

The Book Fair is open on Monday - Saturday : 9:30 - 13:00 and 17:00 - 24.00

Sunday: 17:00 - 24.00

There are books for everybody's taste, for adults and children, novels, political and social books, books for travellers in Cyprus, history books, books written by researchers about everything which concerns Cyprus, on mining, tobacco, on women. I found new publications by my poetry friends I have interviewed lately. It is great fun. The lectures are in Turkish.

In the evenings at 20:30 there is a very interesting programme; intellectuals and knowledgable people from Literature, Journalism and Art speak about the political, social and art aspects. The admission to all events is free. The programme is laid out at the book fair.

I had come to meet with Dr. Vamik Volkan, Nobel Prize Nominee, whouwas invited to discuss the Socio-Psychological Transformation in Turkish Cypriot Society with Baris Basel. I have met Dr. Vamik Volkan last year for an interview and I found him a very charming and most experienced man in world matters. Due to his presence at the most important political developments, crucial moments of war or peace, supportive advisory activities, he is most able to judge the situation and change of society, here of Turkish Cyprus.

Venue: Lefkoşa Kizilbaş Church, also Youth Centre (coming the highway towards Ercan, turn right at green Alpet Petrol Station and go as far as the church. The entrance to the parking is from the round about.)
