Some
touching highlights

Touching
scenes in the corridors of the exhibition hall of the Atatürk Cultural Centre,
you could feel that there was a bond between the women who had met here for a
couple of days and worked together. I said goodbye to them having been with
them for a morning during the workshop. All lovely and very creative women.
Müge
Denktaş, the wife of Serdar Denktaş, Vice Prime Minister, opened the exhibition
on 11 March together with Ipek Denizli Karagöz and it was a lengthy procedure
to honour all women and involved helping hands to create this event.
It
is not only about art the meeting of women was about, it is about solidarity,
about helping each other and exchanging ideas. Just as the President of the
Femin Women Art group in Trabzon, Mrs Sükran Üst, pointed out to me, it is to show creative
women a way to self confidence.
In
many pictures the theme ‘woman’ was dealt with, the woman working, the woman in
the flames, the big eyes of a woman behind colourful layers of cloths, the
woman as a chess piece, also the way a woman wants her life and surrounding to
be, peaceful, and there were symbols of freedom such as the butterfly,
beautiful but free to fly.
My
best wishes go with them.
