The Russian artists Pjotr Meshvinski (Cello), Leonid Rabinovich (Viola) and Rauf Kasimov (Piano) meet again, after 30 years, and will celebrate this with a joint recital.
In the 80's the three of them gave numerous concerts at both the Moscow and St Petersburg Conservatories. Since then they find themselves living in different parts of the world. Pjotr Meshvinski lives in Hamburg, Germany, Leonid Rabinovich lives in Miami, USA and Rauf Kasimov lives in North-Cyprus.
Given the length of time since they have performed together, they have decided to name their concert "After 30 years ".
The first concert will take place on the 9th of March at 20:00 in the beautiful Refectory of the Abbey of Bellapais and the second on the 15th of March at 19:30 in the newly refurbished Bedesten, the former St. Nicholas church, next to the Selimiye Mosque, Nicosia.
Also participating in these concerts will be Pjotr Meshvinski 's wife Natalia Alenitsina on violin and his son Emanuel Meshvinski, the 11 year old, talented Emanuel plays the violin. The pianist Rauf Kasimov will be playing at the Bellapais Concert. The programme for the Bellapais concert will feature a Brahms's Piano Quartet, and music of Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky.
For the Bedesten concert in Nicosia, The St. Petersburg Trio will perform pieces by Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Händel, Halvorsen and Beethoven.
These concerts are in support of Kuşkor, the North Cyprus Society for the Protection of Birds and Nature.
Tickets are priced at 30TL for the concert in Bellapais and 25 TL for the concert in Bedesten and will be available from both the Nicosia and Kyrenia branches of Deniz Plaza, the Bestseller Bookshop in Kyrenia, Kybele Restaurant in Bellapais, the ticket office of Bellapais Abbey and on the night at the respective venues.
