Dr.
Suat Günsel, Founding Rector of Near East University has opened his treasury
chest , which he has been filling over many years, and has brought out paintings of Cypriot
Turkish artists for a retrospective exhibition of many of those visual artists
who are responsible for the fundamental development
of Turkish Cypriot art of painting, i.e. up to the age group born in 1950.
The
works were shown in the exhibition hall of the Near East University. Curator
was Dr. Mustafa Hastürk. On the occasion of the exhibition we heard that an art
museum on the premises of the university is planned to open in 2020. It will be
a proud moment to have all art work come out from its hiding.
The
present retrospective concentrated on works by the artists (in the order of
birth date)

exhibition will be open until February 23, 2018. It is a piece of Cypriot
history shown; we are waiting for its continuation.
