After
months of abstinence I got hungry for the arts; I mean you could visit famous
art museums, and art exhibitions online, listen to house music on the internet
but….it is not the same. I somehow always expect an answer to something moving
society, I don’t expect an answer in general but I expect to see an
illumination of a problem, of a situation, views on a broad level, direct and
offensive approach, views of people who are trained to observe and interpret,
the artists.
Yesterday,
16 July 2020, 19:00 hrs, was the opening of an interdisciplinary exhibition at the
ArtRooms in Girne ‘A Day in the Life of Anonymous’ by 18 local artists,
illuminating the 2020 worldwide appearance of Corona and the erasing of
individual identity by having to wear face masks, real face masks…. I mean most
of us are wearing masks and hardly show our true face…. But here we have the
tool of equalization …negating relationships…social distancing…body distancing….
and finally…. intellectual distancing?

It
was interesting for me to see the train of thoughts displayed in different
disciplines, also by performance and it was thought provoking, for me, for us
to go home and think about it: In front of the problem we are all equals but by
standing up and working for a solution we are becoming individuals again.
The
exhibition is open until 01 August 2020, viewing hours are daily 12:00 – 21:00
hrs. except Tuesdays.,…. Don't forget to bring your own masks.
