You
should have seen the joy in the faces of the children, parents and grandparents
alike when the art works done during the winter months were on display at the
venue of EMAA – European Mediterranean Art Association – in Nicosia. See here

For
me it is always a great pleasure to witness these events because education in
art is in my eyes one of the most important tools in human education as it
develops our senses and the earlier
education and training starts the better. For many years now EMAA offers
courses in winter and summer with trained teachers and artists in various
disciplines not only for children but also for adults. To train hand and eyes,
to learn to transpose the image onto paper, to develop imagination and
individual expression, but also to communicate with others and collaborate in a
group. The teachers who have taken on this task have for many years given their
time and personal involvement to one of EMAA’s principal aims which is furthering
art education and alongside with it values of humanity.
Osman
Keten as president of EMAA and Mehmet Harmancı, Mayor of Nicosia and supporter,
spoke out in the same sense to the guests and families and they thanked the
teachers of the course Ozan Özgenler and Sinem Ertaner both teachers in the
true sense of the word and who are admired and loved by their young students
and parents alike. I overheard words of
appreciation by parents and spoke to a grandmother who said, come rain or
sunshine, my grandson would not miss a single lesson.
This
is how it should be.
PS: Just received the announcement for the new courses, starting on March 10....
