It was a feeling like coming home on Sunday evening, 22
November 2020, 19:00 hrs, the first concert of this year for me and my friends
at the SOULIST with a classical programme. How much I have missed music. Anticipation
filled the place, a very intimate atmosphere, Roland Eyerich and Alper Cengiz
welcomed the many guests who just as I felt at home.
Myrrha Trio was founded in 2019 by violinist Miray Çakır,
violist Sinem Sadrazam, and violoncellist Püren Eda Gözer, all of whom are
musicians in the TRNC Presidential Symphony Orchestra. They had selected
for us an exciting programme:
-Johann Sebastian Bach: Goldberg Variations for String Trio
BWV 988
-Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Divertimento No. 1 for String Trio
-Jean Sibelius: String Trio in G Minor
-Astor Piazzolla: Oblivion
Libertango,
arr. by Ali Hoca
The closeness to the
musicians had the effect on me that I heard the ‘stories’ of the three
instruments separately and I had to close my eyes to hear the composition in
its wholeness; I had not realized before so clearly that the eyes also have listening
properties. Makes me smile.
The three young and
beautiful women – I believe that making music beautifies people – gave us great
pleasure with their music and we could feel their deep involvement. The
applause would not stop so we were given Piazzolla’s Libertango again as an Encore.
What a lovely evening,
thank you.
