It was one of those evenings
you don’t want to miss. The GERLIS Ensemble from Germany made music for us,
true artists who enchanted us with their professionalism, with their obvious passion
for music; for me it was balm for the soul. Our Rauf Kasimov joined them on the piano for
one piece, namely Johann Christian Bach. They only had one single day to get to
know each other, but how beautifully it worked. Please read more about the
Ensemble in the link http://www.heiditrautmann.com/category.aspx?CID=3168764111#.Vy83gdJ96JA
We heard Luigi Gatti
(1740-1817) Quartet in F major;
Allegro, Adagio cantabile, Rondo: Allegro
Johann Christian Bach
(1735-1782) Piano quartet in G major ;
Allegro, Rondo: Allegro
Gordon Jacob (1895-1984)
Quartet for oboe, violin, viola. cello
Allegro
moderato, Scherzo: Allegro moderato; Andante semplice; Rondo: Allegro molto;
W.A. Mozart (1756-1791)
Quartet in F major KV 370

A second concert was given
on the following night at the Bedesten with the following programme….
Jiri Druzecky (1745-1819
Quartet for oboe in G minor;
Adagio – Allegro; Andante; Allegro.
Franz Schubert (1797-1828
String Trio Movement in B major;
Gordon Jacob (1895-1984)
…the same again as in Bellapais …it was just too beautiful….
Maurice Ravel 1875-1937)
Pavane four une infant défunte, version for string trio
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
(1756-179) Quartet in F Major KV 370
Allegro; Adagio; Rondeau : Allegro.
The Bedesten in Nicosia next
to the Selemiye Mosque is just as beautiful as Bellapais Abbey and is used for all
kinds of cultural events, right at the moment for the 4th
International Akdeniz Terracotta Symposium, a workshop where international
artists are re-creating the long lost sculptures of centuries ago that have
been taken to Sweden after their discovery. So, a very emotional encounter of
arts; the exhibition will be on May 11….
Ayhatun Ateşın, the
organiser of the Symposium agreed to have the GERLIS Ensemble in the hall, and,
as she said, the arts of sculpting and of music go beautifully together.
So it did, it was an
experience of a special kind. A big thankyou to the organisers Kaleidoskop
Turizm and Cyprus Piano Culture and Art Association.
The proceeds from the ticket
sale was determined for Mağusa Özel Eğitim Merkezi (Children in need
organisation)
