Metaphor… a metaphor for Osman Keten’s philosophy of life,
for his concern for his country.... for the interconnections between nature and
the Ego. By invisible threads we are connected to everything around us, in his
art this is made visible, we cannot escape, we are earthlings bound to earth.
He took a handful of earth,
smelled and tasted it, breathed it…. it is my home, the soil I live by, the
earth I live on and I see what happens with it… with the knowledge of misuse in
times before him, in times during his life time, war and hate in the back of
his mind, in his nostrils….and he took the soil and made art of it, beautiful
art that makes us think, that makes us aware that the eleventh hour has
arrived.
I have been visiting Osman
Keten’s art studio many times and so I saw the development of his last project
he is going to show us in December at EMAA (European Mediterranean Art
Association) in Nicosia with the opening on December 15, (see the poster). The
artist friends that came with me were equally moved by his thought to bring us
our earth closer to our hearts and minds.
Osman Keten’s love for
experimental work, combined with perfect execution, makes his art very dear to
me, very exciting; he does never stand still and he probes into fields no one
has entered before. A must see for everyone who is interested in art.
