Abstract art photography. More and more photography and especially art photography has found its way into our cultural life. Art begins in the head. It is no longer – as many think – to press the button and hope for the best, it is the conceptual thought that is behind it. And with the help of digital art and its programmes it can be worked on, be given a new meaning, can be combined, turned around and in the end tell you a story.
This is most obviously what Leman Ahmetoglu has in mind with her photography which was showcased at the Ismet Güney Art Centre in Nicosia.
Leman was born in Nicosia in 1979. She has been active in painting and has participated in exhibitions and workshops; lately her main interest seems to be on the photographic sector with workshops, competitions and exhibitions in 2011 and 2012, the last being the Öztan Özatay Photo competition.
I brought some photos from the exhibition for my readers to see Leman’s work. Next to her photographic work she also showed some paintings, abstract paintings. It is her photographic work that is very interesting, a new approach.
Unfortunately the exhibitions in general are always announced so very late, and it leaves no time to have them properly published, especially when it is to appear in a weekly newspaper. But there is always my website which is updated immediately. The exhibition was closed on Friday April 13.
