The Hessian State Theatre Wiesbaden has been invited to Cyprus to present the play “Agamemnon’s Children” based on Euripides’ and Sophocles’ at this year’s 16th International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama”. This production (directed and adapted by Konstanze Lauterbach and Dagmar Borrmann) is the first to depict the entire, interconnected story of Agamemnon’s children. Compiled and adapted, the play is based on Euripides’ Iphigenia at Aulis, Orestes and Iphigenia in Tauris as well as Sophocles’ Electra. The synthesis of these four plays focuses on the lives of Agamemnon’s children presenting them from different points of view. Their destiny and actions make them perpetrators and victims in the vicious cycle of violence inherent in the Atreides’ myth.
