The newest comments to the situation in Cyprus, comments which don’t need any words, closing down to the point, are displayed in the Information Office in Ledra Street (Lokmaci Crossing) until April 15. The exhibition was prepared by the Turkish Cypriot Cartoon Association in cooperation with the parties AKEL and EDON (its youth movement) to express their hope, wish and preparedness for peace in Cyprus.
Many people had come for the opening on April 9 to read the signs given by the nine caricaturists with their 69 cartoons. We all know them from their participation in the press, from competitions and international exhibitions: M. Serhan Gazioğlu, Musa Kayra, Hüseyin Çakmak, Mustafa C. Azizoğlu, Mehmet Ulubatlı, Mustafa Tozakı, Cemal Tunceri, Arif A. Albayrak, Dolgun Dalgıçoğlu.
The exhibition is very nicely presented, I must say, with a short CV of the artist next to his portrait. Political statements towards peace were made at the opening by the General Secretaries of the parties AKEL and EDON, Andreas Kipriyanou and Haris Karamanos, and Dr. Arif Albayrak, member of parliament.
It is a good opportunity to see them all together until April 15, our caricaturists who “speak out” what we all think but cannot express it so expertly.
